Ser Marco Srl is a rice milling company that has been milling rice for more than 100 years. The company is owned by the Vignola family and have been trading in the rice market since 1994.
Ser Marco’s mission statement is to develop the exchange of food culture between Europe and the World; informing the world of traditional Italian rice varieties and at the same time educating Europeans about the exotic rice varieties coming from all over the world.
For this reason Ser Marco get their inspiration from the life of Marco Polo, the famous Venetian merchant who was the first man in history in the 13th century to export quality Italian products to China, and returned to Europe with silk and gemstones. Nowadays Ser Marco market rice to Europe and North America, always putting quality first.
Ser Marco’s products are made in partnership with Mundi Riso, primarily Italian rice mill, equipped with the best and most modern machinery for milling and selecting rice in an IFS and BRC certified plant.
The sushi rice ‘Fuji O-Nami’ is grown in Italy. Through many years of research and testing, we discovered that, the Italian variety ‘Loto’, along with careful milling and selection with our ground breaking exclusive technology, is the perfect variety of rice to make consistent high quality sushi. These findings have been endorsed by the Japanese Food Sector. Its name comes form the most famous Ukyo-e woodblock print in the world: “The great wave off Kanagawa” by Katsushika Hokusai. O-Nami means “Great Wave”, Fuji is the name of the tallest mountain in Japan.
Fuji O-Nami sushi rice is the ideal rice to use for sushi preparations.
The key characteristics of the Loto variety are its medium length kernels, tapered and crystal clear. It is grown in the provinces of Vercelli and Pavia in the western Alps’ pure water filled fields.
